My Focuses

Every designer has their focuses, and most of them focus primarily on pleasing the customer on the friend end simply by producing something that “looks nice” instead of what converts into a long term customer base.

In the past, like most designers, I did too.

However, when I studied online marketing and design more in depth, I came to the understanding that what looks pretty isn't necessarily what converts or really captures attention.

Now, these are my primary focuses in every project I take on:

1. Brand

I believe that the most important thing for any business is their brand.

For a long time, many online business owners focused entirely on conversion rates. While a high converting page is often necessary to succeed in order to earn a profit on many forms of advertising, what is even more important is your brand.

When people know, like, and trust you, they will buy almost anything from you!

The power of branding has become a lot better appreciated only over the last 1 to 3 years, where everyone knows they should have some way of representing their brand (usually visually through a logo).

2. Conversion Rates

Conversion rates are my second focus. I do believe that having a very high converting page is critical in marketing these days.

From my experience in design, I have learned over time what converts and what doesn’t. I also have come to realize that a primary factor in conversion rates is your brand. Like most designers, I made the mistake in the past of only focusing on what looks good to the client, which may satisfy them temporarily, but these days I’m more practical: I know you’re not in business just to have a pretty website.

You’re in business to make money. That’s what I am here to help you achieve.

3. Search Engine Optimization

Obviously, just having a brand and great conversion rates won’t earn you a penny in profit if you don’t place your site in front of a targeted audience that wants your product or service.

That is why my third focus is to help you get organic traffic from search engines to your site through search engine optimization.

While I don’t offer this service to all clients, because some types of sites are not fit to get a high ranking on Google or really don’t need it because of your advertising plans, it is one thing I offer help with.

I mainly offer assistance in the area of extensive keyword research and placing your keywords in the right places on your page. I avoid doing projects that involve “black hat” SEO, such as artificially building backlinks to your site. Not only is it against SEO rules, it also puts your site at risk for becoming blacklisted. In the long run, black hat techniques lose to white hat.

However, my SEO service is not included in every project. If you would like help with it, we must discuss a quote on that portion as well.

4. User Experience Design (UX)

My final focus is the user experience. What this means is that I offer the option of creating a site that displays well and is easy to use and navigate in all devices, including mobile, tablet, laptops, desktops, and all other screen sizes.

This is critical these days in which a large percentage of Internet usage is done by phone. What you don’t want in your website these days is to make it difficult for a mobile user to use your site. For example, when they have to zoom in just to read the text or to be able to click a link, it is not convenient and can become extremely annoying to them.

Although I do not design every website to be mobile responsive, it is a solution I offer.

I do offer the option for making minisites responsive as well.
